TAI CHI

Yin - softness, calmness, gentleness. Yang - hardness, strength, brightness.

Life is constantly changing; the art of tai chi is knowing how to adapt to these changes whilst maintaining balance.  Much unhappiness and human suffering comes from resisting change rather than going with the flow.  This is also reflected in the tai chi form. If there is too much tension mentally or physically the movements will lose their flow. `Dealing with challenges in life can have a positive outcome as long as we are aware of yin and yang philosophy. Accepting change instead of fighting it brings contentment and happiness. We learn when to stand firm and when to yield. We learn to neither over react or under react. We can choose to see a difficult situation from a different perspective and turn it in to a positive experience.

"Balance and stability - that's what I got from Helen's Tai Chi classes - with plenty of fun thrown in" Glenys, Newton

Tai chi becomes a form of mind training and character building.  In this way we are in harmony with life.  Sometimes changes might be so subtle we might not be aware of them unless we are mindful about the nuances of life. Constant change also shows us the impermanent nature of everything.By understanding the law of impermanence we are more able to face difficult changes and challenges.

As you learn to practice tai chi you learn to calm the mind which has a role in maintaining harmony and balance. An optimistic attitude opens to face life's trials' with resourcefulness.

Learn to apply the philosophy of yin/yang in your daily life and you.will encounter less conflict and less stress.

Through the practice of seeking peace in movement you will be able to maintain a happy and healthy disposition.
